Role of the digital information professional of the Guantánamo Information and Technological Management Center

Abstract


Nowadays, the important role of information in all branches of knowledge, in all processes and in each of the spheres through which everyday life is developed, is being increasingly recognized; organizations require information to meet their organizational objectives, so each of their activities depend on access to information, for this reason information professionals must comply with each step of those included in the life cycle of the information, that is selecting, treating, retrieving, disseminating, etc. the same in efficient way, so that it allows the correct decision making on the part of the executives. These professionals are daily faced with the challenges of the information society, including the use of digital information, the development of new skills, the reinventing of their products and services in order to achieve greater demand and position them in the market. The objective of this work is to analyze the challenges that this professional faces daily, the changes that give rise to his labor evolution and to the development of competences related to the use of digital information, among others, therefore different materials were used and theoretical and empirical methods that supported the study, and obtained as results the manifestations of the actions of the specialists of the Information and Technological Management Center of Guantanamo, through the processing of digital information, to obtain various products and services. All this is proof that this 21st century entails more specific tasks for information professionals, the design of services with high added value and specialization in different areas of knowledge.
