The journal Politica Internacional at CLACSO: a real experience of how to publish and disseminate the research outcomes in Open Access

Abstract


INTRODUCTION: The technologies of information and communication have created new opportunities of great importance and transcendence as the open access to documents that at the same time, warrant the conservation of the original document.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this communication is to present a real experience of how to publish and disseminates the research outcomes published in the ISRI journal Política Internacional, in open access at the web. It has been taken into account the importance of the information issued in the ISRI journal Política Internacional and the possibility of its visibility at collaborative environments as results the Virtual Library of the Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales, CLACSO.

METHODOLOGY: After establishing a collaboration agreement with CLACSO we proceeded to up load the journals and its metadata by means of the Autoarchive, through the established web preform. Once published at the web the journals and its metadata, we proceeded to search the ISRI journals through the options offered by the Virtual Library, which outcomes are presented as well as the proceedings used to access the complete text of each article published, with examples downloaded directly from the Virtual Library.

RESULTS: There were confirmed the possibilities that CLACSO offers to the associated centers to use its web site to facilitate the open access to important information from the social sciences field.

CONCLUSIONS: It was confirmed the open access availability of the contents of the journal Política Internacional, through the search facilities offered by the Virtual Library of CLACSO, including the option of getting the complete journal in its original format or in html format, offering statistics of entrances done during the last years for each journal issued.
