Abstract

The analysis of citations is frequently used as a means to know the subjects of greater relevance and repercussion in a scientific community, its intellectual structures, the authors with greater protagonism and effectiveness within the guild. Taking into account the above, a scientometric study was conducted with the objective of analyzing the behavior of the citations that received the publications of the Institute of Animal Science in the Scopus Database from 1996-2013, which allowed us to know that the greater accumulation of Citations were observed in the first half of the stage under study because of its larger citation window, that the most cited articles coincide with studies conducted in collaboration with other institutions, the Cuban Journal of Agricultural Science (CJAS) was identified as the journal More cited due to its higher production volume. It was verified that the use of a battery of indicators to measure individual scientific performance gives us a more complete and accurate result of the authors of greater impact and visibility. Through the network of journaling, the citation patterns of the CJAS were identified and revealed the interconnection between the group of most cited journals and the network of cocitation of authors showed us the relations not visible in the institution between the authors with thematic, related methodologies, schools of thought, etc.
