Abstract

In this paper we present the results of a study to evaluate the level of web accessibility of the Cuban Collaborative Encyclopedia EcuRed, taking as a standard of comparison, Wikipedia, currently considered by many the largest and most popular work of consultation on the Internet. The accessibility assessment is based on the accessibility initiatives (WAI) established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), in the recommendation of WCAG 1.0 and WCAG 2.0. In order to carry out the study, manual and automatic tools are used to obtain results, which show whether or not barriers and deficiencies exist in the access to information for people with some kind of disability, whether visual, auditory, motor or cognitive.
